The Tokyo Disney Resort is marking its 30th anniversary with The Happiness Year celebration starting April 15th and running through March 20th, 2014. Tokyo Disneyland opened to the public April 15, 1983. Since then DisneySea and three hotels have been added to the popular resort. Several new daily events have been introduced in the two parks for the occasion along with special landscaping, decorations, and merchandise.  The Happiness is Here parade, Happiness on High fireworks show will be performed daily.

In addition to limited edition merchandise, Disney is adding Happiness Sharing Spots in both Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. A Happiness Sharing Pendant, which must be purchased, will activate a special interactive light and sound event. Upon activating three happiness events the guest earns a special free pendant accessory.  This technology is very similar to other interactive programs Disney has been installing in their US theme parks, such as the Agent P adventures in Epcot and the new Pirates of the Caribbean game in Magic Kingdom.

    1. It's definitely a different experience from the US parks. From what I've seen they put even more effort into the theming of everything in the park. That would certainly be a long flight though!
